Reflection on God’s Word for Today – 20 June 2024
Paying close attention to maintaining one’s integrity is absolutely important for every child of God. Jesus says “let your yeah be yeah, and your nay be nay”. That, I believe is the origin of what we call gentleman’s agreement today. Righteous living demands that you walk your talk, doing as you say, without any excuses. It demands that when you make a promise, that you also keep the promise. Anything other than that is a betrayal of trust and is despicable. Unfortunately, this behaviour is commonplace in many churches today and it has become an albatross in efforts to win souls for Christ. But you don’t have to join them in doing this wickedness. You can be different. You can hold on to your integrity and focus fully on pleasing Jehovah and damn what the world around you thinks of you. I assure you that you will never regret it.
