Every genuine follower of Christ will be able to relate with today’s scripture and confirm that, indeed they are in a state of constant warfare, torn between doing what they know is right and pleasing to Jehovah and pampering to the sinful desire of their flesh. No one can claim ignorance of this fact and no you don’t have to succumb to the will of your flesh either. Instead you need to cultivate the habit of yielding always to the gentle whisper and caution of the indwelling Holy Spirit while rejecting the loud and pushy urge of your flesh. I assure you that when you do this your victory over the desires of the flesh is guaranteed in Christ. And when you miss the mark, as you sometimes will, remember that you have Jesus as your Advocate, you can go to Him in repentance. Don’t ever let the devil fool you!
