John 8:44 KJV — Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 08 Jan 2024
Jesus Christ is well known for clear, direct and hard-hitting language when addressing hypocrites and evildoers. He is not one to ever shy away from controversy. He just tells it as it is. The effect of that is that untoward behaviour is nipped in the bud. In today’s scripture Jesus makes us understand that those who indulge in lies and make lying and deception a lifestyle are Satan’s children. It doesn’t matter if they are church leaders and members or if they profess to be anointed prophets and apostles, so long as they make lying their trademark, they belong to Satan. But how do you recognise a lie when you don’t know the truth? I encourage you to be like the Berean disciples who always fact-checked whatever they were told to make sure it corresponds with the biblical truth. Get yourself a good Bible today and develop the habit of reading it daily.Â
