Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 16 Aug 2025
Christ modelled His life on the foundation of giving as an expression of love and worship of the Father. And Christ gave His life so that people can be reconciled to Jehovah. Hence, giving is a foundational principle and doctrine of the new covenant in Christ. But greedy and false religious people have bastardised this doctrine and narrowed giving to just money. And they use every trick they know to con people into giving all the money they have and some even goad people to borrow or sell their possessions so they can give to those thirsty preachers. Today’s scripture, taken in context, advocates that your giving must be as you determine in your heart and must be done cheerfully. So, it is both intentional and calculated, not cajoled.
