Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 17 Sept 2025
Numerical growth in any church congregation comes with its own challenges and the Bible shares the case of the early Church when ethnic discrimination in the distribution of resources among the widows and the needy became a cause of rancour and division that threatened to derail the good work being done. Today’s scripture was written to admonish and guide Timothy in administering the congregation placed in his care. It is written for us today to guide us too. Sadly, only a few congregations follow this injunction faithfully and honour those widows and others who are genuinely in need by making provision for their needs. Learn to speak out and stand up for the widows and needy in your congregation. That’s what Christ did.
