Deuteronomy 5:16 KJV — Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 21 Sept 2025
Giving honour to parents and to those who provide parental care is no longer considered necessary in today’s supposedly modern culture. Yet in Jehovah’s timeless culture, this is so sacrosanct that it is the only command that is conditioned with a blessing of long life and wellness. The dysfunction we see in today’s society can be directly linked to the breakdown of the family structure that God laid down for humanity to thrive in. Many families, including those in various church communities, are plagued by and trapped in a vicious cycle of dishonourable behaviour because they have rejected God’s perfect plan for the family and gone the way of the world controlled by the devil and his minions. You can choose to do it right in your family by returning to Christ and His way.
