Hebrews 12:11 (KJV): Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 29 Sept 2026

Nobody ever enjoys being chastised for any reason, especially not when one feels one has not done anything that warrants chastisement. But in God’s kingdom chastisement is a pruning and shaping and sharpening tool that is used to bring out the best in the individual who God loves. Just as an earthly parent disciplines a child so that child grows up with the right attitudes and values, God purges those who trust in Him and helps them to develop godly character and live by God’s values. You cannot be in the family of Jehovah if you reject the chastening of Christ. It comes with the package. Many are going astray because of this, so I implore you not to follow those who reject God’s chastening but to embrace it with gladness as God’s token of love for you.
