1 Samuel 15:22 KJV — And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 29 Oct 2025
It never stops to surprise one that many churchgoers are driven by the urge to make sacrifices by falling to emotional pleas and pressures from sweet-talking preachers and others who make them believe that Jehovah is a transactional God. Today’s scripture, like many others in the Bible, makes it crystal clear that Jehovah is not served or moved by those practices. Rather, all that God wants from those who believe in Him is a heart of obedience to do His will and to worship Him truthfully in spirit. God does not depend on your offerings and vows to bless you when He chooses to, so let no preacher deceive you. And when you do choose to offer anything to Jehovah, let it come out of a pure heart and a pure motive, in worship of God and not in expectation of any reward. And remember to do it cheerfully and not under duress.
