God’s Word for Today - 22 Oct 2025
James 3:3 KJV — Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 22 Oct 2025
Human beings are very good at controlling and domesticating other creatures to do their bidding but they are absolutely dismal at putting a check on their own behaviour, especially when it comes to voicing their opinions. They want to keep everything to themselves but not their opinions, even when nobody is interested in their opinions. Learning to bridle the tongue is a virtue that is uncommon among people, including those who claim to be following Christ. It is a virtue that everyone who follows Christ must strive for and practice always. You owe it a duty to yourself and others to control your speech and ensure that you speak only when it is necessary and only when it adds value to others, even when you are correcting someone, do it with grace and in love. Never use your tongue to pull down and denigrate others.
Pray: Merciful God, You are kind and gentle with me, please help me to be the same to others, lifting them up and encouraging them. #Mok
