Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 14 May 2024
I may be wrong in this, but I am convinced that human beings loathe being required to give account of what was left in their care. This is universally true and cuts across all socioeconomic and cultural strata worldwide. It is an issue with human ego – the ego of thinking you are in control and ownership of what has been placed in your care. Politicians don’t want to be called to account. Captains of commerce and industry like to sidetrack the issue of accountability. Leaders of religious establishments like to invoke spiritual authority to avoid being accountable. But Jehovah is telling us that there is no way to wriggle out of this. You are merely a steward of whatever it is that you think you own, so the sooner you realise that God owns you and all that you have, whether it is position, power, wealth or whatever else, the better it will be for you. Strive to be a faithful steward and avoid Jehovah’s wrath.
