The attitude expressed in today’s scripture is not uncommon in today’s church circles and para-church ministries. People tend towards comparison and competition, mostly because they lack knowledge about these issues. People have turned a purely spiritual activity into a religious practice, missing the whole essence and purpose of this powerful tool in the arsenal of those who truly love and trust Jehovah. You must avoid the allure of taking fasting as a competition by familiarising yourself with Christ’s doctrine of fasting. Make your fasting count by fasting with the right motive and for the right purpose. Do not fast simply to copy others.
