Isaiah 58:6 KJV — Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 08 Oct 2024
If we would measure our fasting prowess that most of us so very much boast of, against God’s divine standard expressed in today’s scripture we should discover that we are woefully off the mark. That should humble us and cause us serious concern and make us cry to Christ in repentance. Folks, your fasting and praying has no value for anyone if you fail to show kindness and mercy to those in need and turn your back to those who are oppressed. I don’t know whose doctrine about fasting you have imbibed but I urge you to purge yourself of that leaven and align yourself with what Jehovah is saying to you today.
