Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 05 Sept 2026

Hardly anyone who is truthful to themselves would argue about the veracity of today’s scripture. Let us take the simplistic meaning of gift and we discover that most gifts could affect the recipient in some emotional way that would have a bearing on their behaviour. One could develop a soft spot for the giver and treat them differently than one would normally have done. Those who will live upright in Christ must learn to avoid any situation that could cause conflict of interest in their decisions. You must be watchful in accepting gifts, because not all gifts are innocent. Let God’s Word illuminate your thinking regarding any gift that is offered to you. Some will offer you a gift to curry favour from you, others to ensnare you, so beware.
