God’s Word for Today - 13 Nov 2025
Isaiah 58:7 (KJV): [Is it] not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 13 Nov 2025
Fasting is a spiritual exercise that many people seem to not really understand and there are many that embark on fasting practices that seem to not align with what the Bible recognises. Jehovah, in today’s scripture, explains to the people the kind of fast that strikes a chord with Him. When compared with what people consider to be a fast today, we see a total divergence. People seek God’s face through fasting but at the same time continue in their rejection of God’s injunction about how to seek Him. No wonder that many such fasting remain fruitless, not achieving their purpose and leaving the people frustrated. You can change the outcome of your fasting by doing it in Jehovah’s way and not the way you have been indoctrinated to fast. Whatever you do, do not neglect mercy.
Pray: Merciful God, You are the Helper of the poor and helpless, give me a heart like Yours and grace to help those in need. #Mok
