Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 09 Feb 2026

When I was newly converted to following Christ and before I began to understand the character and nature of Jehovah I used to wonder, like so many people do, why it is that we are taught that God is Omnipotent, yet He does not exercise His power to destroy the enemies of His children who trust in Him. And you probably also have wondered the same. I would have asked then why God asked Joseph to take baby Jesus and Mary and run to hide in Egypt instead of just killing Herod and those seeking to kill Jesus. Now I know better and I understand that God exercises His sovereignty in ways that humans may not understand, but He never does anything to contradict His character as the merciful and just Judge of all.
