Genesis 18:28 (KJV): Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for [lack of] five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy [it].

Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 10 Sept 2026

God is ever reluctant to wipe away souls that He created, so He looks for every opportunity to extend mercy to them and give them a very long time for them to reconsider their ways and make amends to please God. Thus, for the sake of just one single soul who is living in consonance with Jehovah, God can withhold His righteous judgment and spare an entire nation the destruction that they deserve. And that presupposes that someone is standing in the gap to intercede for the nation and its people. This is where you come in as a devoted follower of Christ. God has made you a watcher for perishing souls and expects you to constantly intercede on their behalf. How are you playing your role?
