Several people do not understand the need for divine wisdom in addressing what they consider to be a straightforward non-religious activity. They are ignorant of the fact that there is always a spiritual element to every activity that humans engage in, and that is often to their detriment. But the man Nehemiah in today’s scripture was not such a person. Saddled with the project of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem in the face of many adversaries, He combined spirituality with physical preparation and watchfulness until the work was completed. He refused to lean on his own understanding but relied on God for direction. You too can learn from Nehemiah by depending on the Holy Spirit in all your endeavours.
