God’s Word for Today - 16 Jan 2026

2 Corinthians 7:9 (KJV): Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 16 Jan 2026

It is not uncommon to see disciples of Christ failing to do what they know is the right thing to do for the misplaced caution of not wanting to be seen to be too harsh and uncaring. This is especially the case when it comes to calling out sinful conduct in fellow believers. They forget that the Bible enjoins true believers to always correct one another in love and in humility. It is not okay to let any sinful conduct linger because you are denying the offender the opportunity to reflect upon their sinful deeds and repent so they can be restored. Leaders at different levels in the community of believers are particularly prone to this dereliction of their oversight duty to people placed in their care because they do not want to alienate such people. If you are that type of leader, you are failing God and you will be called to account. Learn to rebuke, reproof and correct, and do it with love and care for the one at risk of God’s wrath.

Pray: Oh Lord God, teach me wisdom to fulfill my duty towards those in error that they may repent. #Mok
