God’s Word for Today - 17 May 2026
1 Peter 4:3 (KJV): For the time past of [our] life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 17 May 2026
One wonders why it seems so many people who claim to be following Christ are repeatedly drawn to their way of living before coming to Christ. It is right to assume that they probably did not burn the bridge to their unenviable past. They are still in love with that past and what it offers them. But the truth is that the love of the world and all that it offers is translated as enmity with God. If you fail to blow up the bridge that takes you to that past, you are setting a trap for your future failure. You must resolve to focus fully on following Christ by submitting fully to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to mould you in the image of Christ. This is your reasonable service in Christ and God’s grace will see you through.
Pray: Oh Lord my God I yield completely to You, help me burn the bridge to my evil past. #Mok
