God’s Word for Today - 20 May 2026
1 Corinthians 16:12 (KJV): As touching [our] brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 20 May 2026
Apostle Paul is here teaching the followers of Christ a fundamental truth about discipleship. The fact that there is liberty in following and serving Christ. And the need for those in authority to respect the wishes of others and refrain from coercing them into carrying out tasks when they are not prepared to. The story is different in many church communities today because leaders force their will on those who serve under them, even when they are ministry volunteers. This ought not to be so. It often results in people becoming discouraged and frustrated, and some go to the extent of de-churching themselves. If you are a leader who lords it over others, you must stop now and learn to respect and value those ministry helpers without whom you will fall short in your mission.
Pray: Oh Lord God, give me wisdom to lead aright those helpers You have given me. #Mok
