2 Corinthians 1:11 (KJV): Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift [bestowed] upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 22 Dec 2025

There are many people in churches today, and that includes those who are in leadership positions, who either do not realise the value of people praying for them or consider it an entitlement. In both cases they fail to be thankful for such unsolicited but needful prayers and other such support they receive. This is not okay and should not be normalised but called out for correction. Leaders must endeavour to lead by example and to teach others to appreciate those who labour spiritually over them and on their behalf and to thank Jehovah for those people. Indeed everyone in every congregation should learn to lift up one another in prayer and to give thanks to God for those who stand in the gap for them, even when such people are unknown to them.
