God’s Word for Today - 30 Nov 2025
James 2:5 (KJV): Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Reflection on God’s Word for Today - 30 Nov 2025
In reflecting on yesterday’s scripture I opined that God chose to live the poor and needy in society as models for trust and obedience in Christ to teach people to love God for whom He is and not for what He gives, as most people who are seeking Jehovah are wont to do. We see this confirmed in today’s scripture that goes further to emphasise that those poor and needy people who are often despised and treated with disdain by society are heirs of Jehovah. You don’t have to be poor and needy to become a heir of God’s kingdom, but you have to emulate and cultivate the virtues of humility, teachability, trust and obedience to Christ, whatever your socioeconomic status. Don’t be a transactional follower of Christ, but follow Christ faithfully whatever your life situation is.
Pray: Omnipotent God, help me to follow You truthfully for who You are and not only for what you give. #Mok
